I bought this tool for cutting drywall and it works fine. I agree with an earlier reviewer that it is hard to cut a straight line. It can get squirrelly if you push too hard. For drywall I would use a wood cutting bit. The blunt end drywall bits bog down lateral movement especially if you have to stay off a stud underneath. It is essential that you get the vacuum attachment. If not you will have dust everywhere, and you won't be able to see your cutting line. The vacuum attachment also gives you an extra handhold for stability.
